Identity is a two day conference that aims to enlighten our hearts and minds about the life of the last and final messenger, Muhammed (SAW). The theme of the conference is identity and is about reaffirming our own identity by getting to know and loving the Prophet SAW. It is brought to you by UTSC MSA in partnership with UofT MSA and Islamic Foundation Toronto!
Come and listen to three great speakers Imam Tahir Anwar, Dr. Munir El Kasaem, and Shaykh Yusuf Badat. This is a FREE event and FREE meals will be provided on both days of the conference. The conference will be held on January 27th to 28th 2012 at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Seats are limited; please sign up as soon as possible!

Imam Tahir Anwar is an American Muslim Imam (religious leader) who has been around Imams since the day he was born. Namely his father and grandfather (his first teachers), and his two brothers, who are also both Imams in California. Upon completing his religious studies in India, he has been serving as the Imam of one of the oldest masjids in the country, the Islamic Center of San Jose, since 2001. He is also the head of theIslamic Studies Department, and a teacher at Granada Islamic School in nearby Santa Clara, an institution in its 26th year. These days, he travels around the globe to deliver the message of Islam to the masses, and currently resides in San Jose, California with his wife and two sons. -http://www.imamtahir.com/
Dr. Munir El-Kassem is the founder and current President of the Islamic Institute for Faith and Dialogue He was born in Beirut Lebanon in 1955. After spending 15 years in general practice, he joined the University of Western Ontario as an assistant professor at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. El-Kassem is very actively involved in Islamic Da’wa. He is the author of many Islamic books and has written on a wide variety of Islamic issues in various publications throughout the world. - http://www.iiid.ca/
Shaykh Yusuf Badat is the main Imam and ‘Director of Religious Affairs’ at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. Shaykh Yusuf Badat also serves as a teacher for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Quranic Studies and World Religions at the Islamic Foundation School. A brief weekly tafseer halaqa (circle of knowledge) will be shared by Brother Warsame this coming semester at a time to be announced inshAllah. This tafseer reflection will deal with the last few surahs of the Quran as they are most commonly recited. Documents are posted below summarizing the week’s tafsir session. The first two surah’s lessons are below.

Fundraising for International Development @ UTSC presents: KICKIN’ IT FOR A CAUSE – CHARITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Date: Saturday November 5th, 2011
Place: UTSC Indoor Gym
* Tournament Rules:
- Each team is made up of a 8 man squad (6 + substitutes)
- Co-ed teams – 2 points when girls score!
* The WINNING TEAM will receive a CASH PRIZE!!*

Fundraising for International Development is organizing this tournament to raise funds for the construction of a training centre in rural India through a grassroots development organization called Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD) http://cord.org.in/
* Format of Tournament: TBA
* Tournament Rules:
- Co-ed teams – 2 points when girls score!
- Teams members must be an Alumni member or a high school/university student
- Must sign the waver Form
- No high studs
- No jewellery
- No cleats (metal/non metal) – only indoor soccer shoes.
- *late Penalty* – At least 6 players of the team must be present at the time of the game. (a 10 minuted grace period)
- No Refunds!
*Game Rules
- 1 Red Card – one match suspension (the following game that is to be played)
- 3 yellow cards in a row – suspension for a match
- All free kicks are indirect
- Referee gets final call
*Registration Cost
- $15 per player

In light of concerns regarding the time slots of classes during the regular Jumu’a prayers, MSA has initiated a second Jumu’a at 2:15 pm in the regular prayer rooms (SL281 and SL279). Please be aware that this is for those individuals that cannot attend the first Jumu’a at 1:30 pm for any given reason. This will officially start this Friday Oct. 21, 2011.
