MSA Executive Team

President: Azzam Abu Rayash
Azzam has been an active youth worker since the year 2006 at a young age of 16. He demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities throughout his high school life. Azzam received the Governeor General’s Award in 2009 for volunteering more than 1000 hours in the community. Azzam graduated in 2009 from David & Mary Thomson C.I. Currently he is completing his 3rd year studying Neuroscience and Environmental Science at the University of Toronto. Azzam aims to pursue MD/PhD in Neurology as he maintains his activism within the youth and the social community. Azzam is an active youth worker with the Muslim Association of Canada (www.macnet.ca).

Br. VP: Khalil Ali
My name is Khalil Ali, I am currently finishing my third year at UTSC, studying biochemistry. Insha Allah
I will continue on towards medical school. I have been involved with the MSA for multiple years not as an executive but as a dedicated volunteer, as this will be my last year, I wanted to give something back to the UTSA MSA by leaving a lasting impression. I play basketball for the UTSC Maroons, and I enjoy helping others.
Sr. VP: Surayya Khan
I , Surayya Khan, am entering my fourth year at University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus. I am doing a Specialist in Political Science, and my other major is Public Policy Co-op. For the past year, I have been the Coordinator for UTSC MSA’s ‘The Message’ newsletter where I help manage a team of dedicator writers and designers to create seasonal newsletters, a calendar, and a project to collect and combine a series of stories. Apart from these activities, I love to volunteer and servicing others, as well as taking occasional classes in Islamic studies. In my spare time I can be found blogging and reading.

Treasurer: Warsame Rijal
My name is Warsame Rijal, 2012-13 Treasurer for the MSA at UTSC, wal-hamdulillah. I am entering my final year of studies, completing a double major in Chemistry and the Environmental Sciences. I have served in past years as the Religious Accommodations Director, as well as the Da’wah Commissioner for the MSA. I enjoy playing basketball and reading various non-school related materials.
Secretary: Oranoos Mohammed
My name is Oranoos and I will insh’Allah
be UTSC MSA new secretary. Currently, I’m in my second year at utsc doing a Human Biology Specialist. The past year was my first involvement as a volunteer in the msa. Subhan’Allah
it was a wonderful experience that encouraged me to be part of the MSA. During my spare time I enjoy volunteering and painting.
